nettest is a Perl script which tests the integrity of a net connection. If the connection is down, it will either beep the speaker, send email, write in the system logs, or all of the above. Note this is completely different from the standard 'network tester' programs in that it is not meant to test the machines or services of any computers on the network, but rather to ensure that the physical network connection is intact. There are no plans to have nettest check for services, as there are plenty of other programs out there which perform this task. You _can_ use nettest to check systems.
